Hello, today I’ll give you some informations about the Yosemite Nationalpark. The park lies in California, around 300km from San Francisco away, along the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Here you can see it on the map. Another popular parks at the Sierra Nevada are the Sequoia, the King Canyon and the Death Valley Nationalpark. The Death Valley Nationalpark is the driest Nationalpark in the USA. A part of the park lies in the great state California, another part lies in the state of Nevada. From the Miwok Indians, who had lived in the Yosemite Valley, the root called Yosemete. So the name of the park was created. James Mason Hutchings, Thomas Ayres and two other people were in 1855 the first tourists of the Yosemite Valley. Hutchings released books and articles, so the population was intent. In 1864 the park was created on the basis of the Californian law. In 1890 the park was taken from federal government. In 1903 they maked a offer to build a dam in the north of the Yosemite Valley, in the Hetch Hetchy Valley, which should by floods as water tank and for the water system in San Francisco serve. 10 years later, in 1913 the building was allowed. Here you can see the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. In 1916 National Park Service, short NPS was founded, to take over the management of the park. Hotels, campgrounds and roads were buildin the same year. In 1984 he was explained to the UNESCO-world natural heritage, because his amazing granite rocks, his waterfalls like the Vernal Fall, Yosemite Fall or the Nevada Fall, his clear streams, the redwoods and his richness in species are globally inimitably. Here you can see one of the waterfalls, the Vernal Fall. The area from the park was also the first, that the federal government of the United States official planned as a park. The park lies at a height of 600 to 4000m above sea level. The central part of the park is the Yosemite Valley. The park has a area over 3000 square kilometer, which is three times bigger as Berlin or two times bigger as London. A shuttle bus transport the tourists through the 18 square kilometer large Yosemite Valley. Every year there are more than 3 Mio. tourists. He has more than 160 rare plant species. He also has a great diviserty of wildlife like the American black bear or the Goldmantelziesel. In this picture you can see the American black bear and here you can see the Goldmantelziesel. At the Badger Pass is a traditional ski resort, which is the oldest ski resort in California. Today ther are more than 5 lifts and 10 slopes. Here you can see the Badger Pass. Many climpers climp on the rock wall of the El Capitan or the Half Dome. In Juli/August was a Hanta-Virus in the Yosemite Nationalpark, a part was deadly continue. In this picture you can see the mouse who had bring the virus in the park. Tourists find informations in the tourist center and in the Yosemite Museum or in the Nature Center. In this map you can see : Here is the Half Dome with a height over 2693m. That is the El Capitan. Here are different villages like the Curry Village, the Yosemite Village with theaters, Indian Village,a Visitor Center, Yosemite Museum, Post Office, Village Store and a Art Activity Center. Here you can see the Yosemite Gift Shop and here you can see the Curry Village.
