The River Thames is a large river in England. It goes through London.
The Thames has a length of 346 kilometres.
In Canada, there is a river, which has the same name and there’s a city near the river,
whose name is London, too.

The origin of the river is near the village Kemble and it ends in the North Sea.
The Thames is flowing through Oxford, Reading, Slough, London, Southend and some other citys.
Thamesis is the Latin name of the river.
There are more than 45 islands in the river. For example isle of Grain, isle of Dogs or Thames Ditton islands.
Over the river are many Bridges. The most important is the Tower Bridge.

History:

In the little Ice Age, the Thames often froze over1 in the winter.
1858 the river Thames was so dirty2, that a lot of people can’t work in Westminster.Than they built canals. Today, the Thames is the best cleaned river which flow3 through a capital, in the world.
On September the 3rd 1878 the ship Princess Alice crashed into the Bywell Castle. 640 people died.
After a big wave, they built the Barrier of London against new waves. Now the Barrier is the greatest of the world.

Some people say, that it makes you happy, when you spit4 into the Thames.
