The Simpsons

Today I want to tell you about the Simpsons because I like the actors and the history of this film very much.

“The Simpsons” is an American animated sitcom (=Fernsehkomödie) created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company in 1987. The story of the film is about a family living in a village called Springfield and representing a typical American family. The main characters are: Homer, the father of the family. He works as a safety inspector at the Springfield nucklear power plant. He is very lazy and addicted to donuts and Duff beer. Marge, the mother of the family. She is a typical American housewife taking care of her children Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Bart is 10 years old and makes a lot of trouble. Lisa is 8 years old and a vegetarian and Maggie is still a baby. The pets of the family are a dog, called “Santa`s Little Helper” and a cat, called “Snowball 2”. “The Simpsons” started as a series of 30-second spots for the “Tracy Ullman Show” but then “the Simpsons” got their own series. At the end of July, 2007, “Simpsons - the film” came into the cinemas worldwide and appeared as comics and computer games. The characters of the Simpsons are mainly yellow, have big eyes and only 4 fingers!

Groening named the characters after members of his family: His father Homer, his mother Marge, and his sisters Lisa and Maggie. He named the son Bart, and gave him characteristics of himself and his brother Mark.
“The Simpsons” is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the "Longest Animated Series" in the history of television. There are more than 200 episodes. One episode of the Simpsons costs more than 1,000,000 dollars and takes a production time of six months. The original speakers of the main characters get 400,000 dollars per episode.
The Simpsons has been honored with a lot of prices, for example 10 Emmy Awards.
