Giving a report on a Film

Flightplan
If someone took everything you live for how far would you go to get it back?

I’d like to tell you about a film I watched some time ago. It was directed by Robert Schwentke and it came out on the 20th October 2005.

Jodie Foster, the main actress in the film, started her career at the age of two. For four years, she made commercials and finally gave her debut as an actress in the TV series "Mayberry R.F.D." (1968). In 1975, Jodie was offered the role of the prostitute Iris in the movie Taxi Driver (1976). For this role she received an Academy Award nomination in the "Best Supporting Actress" category. In 1980, she graduated as the best of her class from the College Lycée Français and began to study English Literature at Yale University. Despite (trotz) the fact that Jodie never took acting lessons, she received two Oscars before she was thirty years old. She received her first award for her role as Sarah Tobias in The Accused (1988) and the second one for her performance as Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs (1991). At least I want to add that Jodie is not her original name. She is called “Alicia Christian Foster”.

The film deals with a very special subject. About a very specific psychlogical strain (Belastung): a mother is told that her child was never being alive.

The story begins with a review of a scene in Kyle Pratts (Jodie Foster) life. Kyle Pratt is an american airplane enigneer which lifes in Berlin with her daughter. In this scene her husband is talking to her. But she’s dreaming because her husband died few weeks ago. When she arrives at home she talkes to her daughter and sings for her to fall asleep. Julia her daughter is very silent since her father died. To burry her husabnd Kyle and her daughter Julia drive to the airport to fly to New York. Both get on the airplane. They are sitting next to each other and when the flight begins both try to sleep a bit. Kyle and Julia fall asleep. After a while Kyle awakes. But Julia is disappeared. First Kyle searches in the toilets and the other classes of the airplane. Slowly she began to worry, because her daughters bag and all her things are lost. Kyle wants the whole crew of the flight to look for Julia. They
search everywhere but Julia is disappeared further(weiterhin). Kyle begins to get nervous and wants to talk to the captain.
In between a sky marshal tries to calm her down.. While a therapist persuades her that her daughter never exists and she is only too revised (überarbeitet), the crew speak with Berlinairport for a boardlist. But on this list is no Julia Pratt. But Kyle never stopped of believe in her daughters existence and in this moment she reminds on a room where the crew forgot to search. After the forbid of the captain to search for her daughter on her own, she is arrested by the sky marshal. To escape from the sky marshal she plays a trick on him. With the thought of her daughters existence she tries to get to the room in which she thinks Julia is retained…

In my opinion it’s a really good film. It shows how deep a relationship between a mother and a daughter can be. At the beginning of the film it does not let you have the feeling that somethings wrong. But after a while when they got on the airplane the story begins. Kyle, the mother of Julia, began to worry and got nervous. The Therapist on the plane also tells her that her daughter had never exist. If I get in this situation, I would get terribly crazy. I think I could not stand this psychological strain.
