General things about Alaska :
Alaska ist he 49th state of the USA and ist with about 525000 inhabitants the biggest state in de USA. The capital of Alaska is Juneau with 20.000 inhabitants. Also important cities in Alaska are Borrow, Fairbanks, and Anorchange . Alaska is the neighbour country from Canada.The name Alaska probably comes from the Aleut word ‘’Aleyska’’ and it means the great land. In 1872 the goldrush started in Alaska when there was gold found in Sitka. First only the native people search gold. Crudeoil also plays an important part in Alaska . The very expensive pipeline is crossing three mountain ranges : the Brooks range, the Alaska range , the Chugach range and about 34 large rivers. Benny Benson – a seventh grade Aleut student designed the Alaskas flag in 1926.

The native people in Alaska:
In Alaska are four main groups of natives, that used to inhabit Alaska : the inuits, the aleuts, the athabascan and the tlingits.
The Inuits: The inuits were spreading over the western regions of Alaska and mainly settled at the coast , because the sea was their main source of food. They shared everything they could , even their wives.
The Aleuts: The Aleuts formed the smallest group of Alaskas native people. They were people who were living also living on the sea. In the last 250 years the Aleuts were almost exlinguished.
The Athabascan : The Athabascan used to live mainly on the heartland in small groups and settled along riverbanks. Their food came not only from hunting but also from fishing. Their main means of transprt was the famous dog sleds..
The Tlingits: The Tlingits lived in the south-east of Alaska. In contrast to other indian tribes the tlingits were not easily defeated. They never let themselves chase away out of their former territories.

Today only about one fifth of the population of those tribes are living in Alaska.

Nationalparks of Alaska:
More than a half of the Parks of Amerika are situated in Alaska. In total there are about 71 reserves in Alaska which represent the goldrush and the live of the indians. They are used for leisure or simply should preserve the wild nature for the world to come. One of the most famous and most popular parks is the Denali Nationalpark, which cocers the are around the Mount McKinley.

The Animal Kingdom of Alaska:
The Animal Kingdom of Alaska is so diverse like almost no other place on earth. On the heartland lived huge hers of Caribou around the Tundra. In the big forests live giant Kodiak brown bears. Along the rivers are lot of white head sea-eagles. Alaskas landanimals are also reindeers, elks, buffalos, moose and mountaingoats. The Kodiak brownbear – the largest carinvors of the world – is related to other species like the brownbear and the grizzly bear, the polarbear, bladebeae and the rarer glacier or the bluebear.
There are also lots of smaller fur animaly like for example otter, beavers , rabbits and different types of animals.
Several wolves lieve in different parts of the country. In Alaska , there are about 16 types of wales. The animals of Alaska still live to a large extent undisturbed in an intact natural circle.

Alaska ist der 49. Staat der USA und hat ca. 525.000 Einwohner. Der höchste Berg Nordamerikas, der Mount McKinley befindet sich ebenfalls in Alaska . Die Hauptstadt von Alaska ist Juneau mit 20.000 Einwohnern. 1872 begann in Alaska der Goldrausch, als in Sitka Gold gefunden wurde. Auch Erdöl spielt eine große Rolle in Alaska . Die 10 Milliarden teure Pipeline überquert drei Gebirgsketten, die Brooks Kette, die Alaska kette, die Chugach Kette sowie 34 größere Flüsse.
Die Ureinwohner
Es gibt vier Hauptgruppen von Ureinwohnern die in Alaska sesshaft geworden sind: Die Inuits, die Aleuten, die Athabascan und die Tlingit. Die Inuits : Die Inuits
verbreiteten sich in den westlichen Regionen Alaskas und ließen sich hauptsächlich an der Küste nieder, da das Meer ihre Hauptnahrungsquelle war. Sie teilten sich alles was man teilen konnte, sogar ihre Frauen. Die Aleuten bilden die kleinste Gruppe der Alaska- Bewohner. Sie waren abgehärtete Menschen, deren Lebensgrundlage ebenfalls das Meer war. In den letzten 250 Jahren wurden die Aleuten fast ausgerottet. Die Athabascan sind Sie lebten überwiegend im Landesinneren in kleinen Gruppen und ließen sich an Flussufern nieder. Sie ernährten sich außer von der Jagd auch noch vom Fischfang. Als Transportmittel benutzten sie hauptsächlich den bekannten Hundeschlitten.
Die Tlingits. Die Tlingits lebten im Südosten Alaskas. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Indianerstämmen, waren die Tlingits nicht so leicht zu besiegen. Sie ließen sich nie ganz aus ihren ehemaligen Gebieten vertreiben.
Heute sind nur noch ca. ein Fünftel der Bevölkerung von diesen Stämmen in Alaska lebhaft.
Nationalparks in Alaska:
Mehr als die Hälfte aller Parklandschaften Amerikas sind in Alaska zu finden. Insgesamt gibt es in Alaska etwa 71 Geschützte Gebiete, die unter anderem auch den Goldrausch und das Leben der Indianer widerspiegeln, der Freizeitgestaltung dienen oder ganz einfach die wilde Natur für die Nachwelt erhalten soll. Einer der bekanntesten und beliebtesten Parks, ist der Denali Nation Park. Dieser umfasst das Gebiet rund um den Mount McKinley.
Die Tierwelt Alaskas:
Die Tierwelt in Alaska ist so vielfältig wie fast nirgendwo sonst auf diese Erde. Im weiten Baumlosen Landesinneren durchstreifen große Karibu Herden die Tundra. Inmitten üppiger Wälder sind mächtige Kodiak Braunbären lebhaft. An den Flüssen gibt es viele Weißkopfseeadler. Unter Alaskas Landsäugetieren gibt es auch Bergziegen, Widder, Büffel, Moschusochsen, Rentiere und Elche. Der Kodiak Braunbär- der größte Fleischfresser der Welt- ist mit anderen Arten wie Braunbär und Grizzlybär, Polarbär, Schwarzbär und dem seltenen Gletscher- oder Blaubären verwandt.
Auch kleinere Pelztiere gibt es in Alaska reichlich, zum Beispiel Otter, Bieber, Nerze, Wiesel, Bisamratten, Hasen, und verschiedene Erdhörnchenarten.
Zahlreiche Wölfe leben in den verschiedenen Landesteilen.
In Alaska gibt es etwa 16 Walarten. Die Tierwelt Alaskas lebt noch weitgehend ungestört in einem intakten Naturkreislauf.
